Collectively experience calm, connection and compassion everyday

The Learnful School Mindfulness Programme

Placing pupil and staff well-being at the heart of your school.

Practising mindfulness can give long-term benefits for us all. Rather than a subject to be taught, we want mindfulness to become a way of life.

When good-quality mindfulness is shared and practised regularly, it will infiltrate into ALL aspects of school learning. It doesn’t take preference for one subject area, or timetabled slot, it has impact EVERYWHERE, ANYWHERE and for ANY person.

Join the Learnful School Membership Programme and I’ll show you how daily mindfulness and mindset practise can lead to whole-school transformation where your pupils and staff are more self-aware, emotionally regulated and adaptable to challenges, changes and positive self-belief.

What’s included in the online
Learnful School Mindfulness Programme:

Introductory staff-meeting

Four mindfulness videos each week for every class in your school for the entire school year

Downloadable classroom resources and display posters as reminders for maintaining mindful habits throughout the day

One parent update video each week with suggested mindfulness activities to practice at home

Automatic access to my latest teachings on how to be a mindful role-model in school

Why does our school need the programme?

Let’s face it…because you and your staff already have enough to do.

Because – you want to notice a positive transformation in your whole school. Once a week isn’t enough. Would you brush your teeth once a week and expect them to stay healthy and well-looked after? A small group of children practising mindfulness at the exclusion of their classmates and teacher isn’t going to develop a culture of compassion and understanding. It needs to be practised by everyone, with ease and regularity.

Because – you know any staff that you train in mindfulness, may not stay forever at your school. Staff absence, maternity leave, relocating teachers and leaving teachers – all take their subject knowledge and leadership skills with them. No chance of that happening with the programme. It stays put no matter what change takes place in your school. Like a mountain through the changing seasons.

Because – mindfulness is most effective when it is practised as a daily habit over long-term period. You don’t want some teachers doing it and some not. You don’t want it to happen on some days and then not done for weeks. You need consistency, high quality and ease. And that’s what you get when you join the Learnful School Programme.

Because – your teachers (and you) do not need MORE to do.

Because – no matter what what happens in your school, the programme is there. Everyday, delivering a piece of calm space. An opportunity to be quiet, to reflect and focus. And don’t we all need more of that in our lives?

How it works

When you become a Learnful school, you have access to daily videos and resources for each week of your school year around various well-being themes.

There are four daily videos to play – all less than 10 minutes, guidance notes if applicable, downloadable resources and a parent update video. This parent video can be sent out weekly to inform your parents of the learnings for that week and are given suggestions of how to use and support mindfulness at home.

You’ll then be guided each week, via an email to each staff member, of the new videos to play for that week. It may be useful for you to decide collectively, when a good time to play the videos will be and stick to it. Forming positive school well-being habits.

You’ll need to be committed to playing the videos and open to experiencing the wonder and joy of mindfulness meditation, mindful activities and mindset shifts!

What the children are saying…

“It’s helped me to recognise my emotions”

Faye, 5

Faye, 5

“It’s good because it makes me think a bit deeper about what’s going on inside me?”

Rosie, 11

“I like mindfulness because when I get stressed or sad Jo shows you ways to calm down.”

Freya, 7

“Embarrassment lives in my hands because they start to sweat.”

Noah, 8

“It gives you lots of methods to use, when others aren’t working.”

Emily, 9

What the teachers are saying…

“I cannot believe the difference in some of my pupils. They’ve never chosen to help themselves before and now they are.”

Year 6 Teacher

“He didn’t want to watch them at first but suddenly he started paying attention. He told me that Jo could help him because she knew the stuff that was going on in his head.”

Classroom Support Staff Year 1, working 1-1 with a child.

“I’m using it myself. The children can see when I’m breathing or using a calming technique and they know to allow me that time and space.”

Year 5 Teacher

“The breathing techniques have helped me (personally) no end. I’m asthmatic and I’ve got more techniques for breathing now than I’ve ever had!”

Classroom Support, EYFS/Year 1

“The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the communication. When the children are explaining their behaviours, they are talking about their emotions and how they were/weren’t in control.”

Year 4 Teacher

What the SLT are saying…

What the parent’s are saying…

“The very best thing about it is that I don’t feel so helpless when dealing with the emotions of my children. If he’s anxious you are giving me techniques and practical ideas about how I can help. It’s opening conversation and therefore, in our house, we are encouraging the talk of ‘how we are feeling’. You’ve also really helped me to word things in a child friendly manner.  I like the idea of emotions/feelings ‘visiting’ us. I could go on.”

Lisa, parent.

” My daughter has just done a mindfulness session teaching me the body scan before bedtime.Thank you so much Jo”

Janine, parent.

“It’s really helping my overly-anxious son, thank you.”

Sarah, parent.
